Last month, Gregarius 0.5.4 was released. Unfortunately, the development team was so busy working on improving Gregarius even further, we never got around to announcing 0.5.4 here!
In order to rectify this oversight for you, our loyal readers, read on to learn about a number of the new features in Gregarius 0.5.4.
The days of manually editing your dbinit.php are no more! Gregarius now includes a graphical installer. Simply insert your database details and start aggregating!

Gregarius 0.5.4 makes it much easier to manage plugins. Now only is there support for a graphical plugin configuration system (reducing the need to edit PHP files to change plugin behavior), but updating plugins is now easier as well. Simply click “Check for Updates” on the Plugins page in the Administration section and watch as your Gregarius installation checks to see if updates are available.
If it has been a while since you have looked at Gregarius themes, you are in for a pleasant surprise. Themes are now more configurable than ever. The addition of sub-themes, or “schemes”, even allows you to easily create modifications or make small changes to existing themes. Visit the theme repository to a sneak-peek at the many themes available.
Using Gregarius on the go? 0.5.4 includes specific optimizations for mobile devices. Also make sure to download the mobile theme for best results.

Want a publicly accessible Gregarius installation but do not want to edit strange PHP files? 0.5.4 to the rescue! Gregarius now forces you to configure username and password details for an administrative user through the browser before entering the Administration section. Since access to the Administration section allows you to add/delete feeds, mark items as read, install plugins, and other powerful functions, this new feature makes securing your Gregarius installation easier.

Gregarius now includes a Dashboard screen in the Administration section. It provides easy access to the latest Gregarius news, plugins, and themes.
Gregarius now supports RSS enclosures. Thanks to the MP3 Player Plugin, you can even listen to podcasts in your browser!
This are only some of the new features found in Gregarius 0.5.4. If you are using a previous version, the development team recommends that you upgrade as soon as possible in order to take advantage of several security fixes, in addition to new functionality. Check back (or put our RSS feed in your Gregarius installation) for more information on features being added to the current development version, Gregarius 0.5.5.

I think Gregarius should give greater priority to major bugs such as the munging of non-Latin characters in URL, which makes Gregarius not usable. Isn’t it pointless to have more language translations if such a fundamental internationalisation bug remains unfixed even as new fun features roll out?
